Curly hair cut short still curly?

so i have really curly hair it goes into ringlets but i always put a tuke on at night to flatten it and partially straighten it cause i dont like my curly hair and this summer im deciding to cut it short so im wonder that if i want to get like a fo-hawk or something would my hair just curl making it not possible?
