Can't find good resolution for my 32" HDTV as monitor?

Right, so i bought a brand new toshiba 32" HDTV and i am currently using it as a monitor, the problem is when i set the resolution to 1920x1080, the text and taskbar, well everything is too small, I've tweaked the DPI, and tried every resolution, the screen is also too wide as it is a wide-screen TV, does anyone know how to tweak the setting to get it just perfect. I'd like to also note i am connected to the monitor via VGA, and running XP professional, using the Phoenix AwardBIOS v6.00 pg, NVIDIA GeForce 7050/610i onboard graphics, nv4_disp.dll main driver, which is version 6.14.0012.7601 and an ASUS P5N-MX motherboard.
